Getting Started

Welcome to SiteConnect!

This page is an overview of the SiteConnect documentation and related resources.

Basics

What is SiteConnect

SiteConnect is an innovative API based on Open Travel Alliance standards that allows booking channels to build one connection to the SiteMinder distribution platform and gain access to the worlds leading Property Management and Central Reservation Systems.

SiteConnect facilitates development teams with a fast and easy connection, setup and builds through the API, offering a complete 2-way integration between the booking channel and SiteMinder for many thousands of properties.

Understanding SiteConnect Connection Process

The SiteConnect Connection Process gives you a big picture of how the integration project will be conducted and how many phases are included across the project lifecycle and timeline.

Understanding Integration Requirements

The Integration Requirements is one of the most important documents that you must spend a little bit of time reading through. The document covers many questions, restrictions, rules that you will meet in the development process.

Understanding SiteConnect APIs and Technical Architecture

The SiteConnect Technical Architecture Diagram is an overview of how SiteConnect APIs are communicating between SiteConnect and the booking channel. This helps you to understand the functionalities of each APIs, and also gives you an idea of how data exchanges between systems.

Your First API

Building Room Retrieval endpoint URI

The Retrieve Rooms API will be the first API you need to work with before any further progress is made with the SiteConnect integration.

Building a room list endpoint to connect to our Retrieve Rooms API after filling out our technical information form. This will ensure SiteConnect can request rooms and rate plans from your site for testing purposes. After this step, we can create a test account for you to access SiteMinder.

The required information is located in the Retrieve Rooms API. Also, please check out the Welcome Pack & Room Retrieval API.

Test Environment

Getting Access to the Test Environment

Each booking channel connecting to SiteConnect will be given an interactive test account to get a basic connection up and running.

What we need to start testing is your web service details: URL with the username and password credentials as well as the dummy HotelCode for us to send Room Retrieval request to. Once we have this, we can do some testing on the Room Retrieval and then release the URI and credentials to our test environment.

Before we can set up the test account, we need to get the Room Retrieval working. This is so we can hit your service with a HotelCode and get a room list in response from your service. Each room list is specific to the HotelCode sent in our requests, and we use this to link the room and rate codes from your system to the rooms in SiteMinder. Once we're past this stage, we can start on availability, restrictions, rates and reservations in that order (in the initial synchronisation, our system will try to send availability/restrictions first, once availability/restrictions is confirmed as received by you, we start to send rates).

Test Account

  • The connecting booking channel will be given a username, password and requestorID to connect to the SiteConnect reservation service.

  • The connecting booking channel will need to supply SiteMinder with a username, password and URL for updates to be sent from SiteConnect.

  • The connecting booking channel will also need to supply SiteMinder with a hotel code for the test hotel. Once this is done, a test hotel will be set up in SiteMinder and made available to the connecting booking channel.

SiteMinder Test Extranet

The connecting channel will get access to the test hotel on the SiteMinder extranet to update availability, restrictions and rates.

The extranet will also show the number of reservations received for the test hotel to ensure that reservations are being processed.
